Upcoming Guest Speakers

Hi Everyone,

Anybody who missed last Monday's meeting missed a great presentation by the Honourable Gordon Hogg.   Gordie has always been a great supporter of our club and it was great to have him talk to us again.

This Monday will be about Rotary Youth Programs (RYLA, Youth Leadership Awards, Interact, Rotaract, etc).  This is a good meeting to ask any questions you have on youth programs to Ray Paquet.

Monday Jan 10 2011

Hi Everyone,

A reminder of a special presentation today by the Mayor of the Township of Langley (and his task force) on Rail Service South of the Fraser.  Come early to get your lunch (it's special lunch day today) before the meeting and be prepared to stay longer at the meeting than normal as they have a long presentation to do for us.

This should be a good day to bring a guest.

See you at lunch.

Happy New Year Rotarians!.

A special greeting to those of you who have completed Pts. 1 and 2 of the program. Participants have been telling us that they have enjoyed the second and third parts of the curriculum even more than Pt. 1.

Some of you Pt. 1 grads have not been back for awhile and this upcoming session in Langley will be a great chance to get back into the swing of things.

Rotary Leadership Institute workshops are an opportunity to gain valuable knowledge about Rotary and to interact with members of other clubs. Leadership strategies are also shared and experienced.

It is necessary to take the segments of the program in order and one is taken at a time in a full day workshop.

Part One features sessions entitled: Leadership Characteristics; Rotary Beyond the Club; Membership Retention; Intro to the Rotary Foundation; Leadership - Team Building; and Service Projects.

Part Two features the following sessions: Leadership - Goals; Vocational Service/Ethics; Membership Recruitment; The Rotary Foundation - SHARE; Leadership - How to Run Meetings; and Analyzing a Rotary Club.

Part Three sessions include International Service; Effective Leadership Strategies (two sessions); Rotary Opportunities; Public Relations and a review of ways RLI can help clubs grow.

Pre-registration and payment are required. The deadline is Friday January 7.

Simply go to the District 5050 website (www.district5050.org) and click on the RLI event listed on Jan. 15.The preregistration link will be in upper left corner. (For more info contact Denis Boyd at denboco@shaw.ca.)
